Thank you for your interest in mhca!
It can be lonely at the top, but it doesn’t have to be. At mhca, members find camaraderie and professional support to help them address emerging issues and achieve their entrepreneurial goals.
Our focus at mhca is on developing behavioral healthcare leaders. The diverse cultural, educational and professional experiences of our members and their broad scope of knowledge create an optimal environment for learning, collaboration, and unparalleled growth and development.
Most of our members are also members of their state associations and National Council, but they have found that membership in mhca provides them with the CEO and C-suite specific focus and the deep connections and thought-provoking conversations they can’t find anywhere else.
Members benefit from quarterly conferences, association publications, Listserv conversations, CEO compensation survey, peer group involvement and other resources that help them examine healthcare trends, learn about developing finance and service delivery models, explore operational challenges, discuss innovative human resource strategies and more.
mhca is comprised of the nation’s most reputable and high-quality behavioral healthcare organizations. Our members drive innovation, shape industry trends, and consistently deliver high-impact care to the people and communities they serve. mhca members are mission-driven leaders who value innovation, collaboration, and excellence in all they do.
To be eligible for mhca membership, an organization must:
- Be appropriately licensed and/or accredited to provide behavioral healthcare services and maintain a good reputation within the communities served.
- Provide direct, comprehensive behavioral healthcare services* (clinical and community-based).
-
- While we accept both non-profit and for-profit entities as members, the majority of our members serve publicly-funded populations, including individuals covered by Medicaid or who are uninsured. If these populations are not a significant part of your service mix and you don’t share an interest in Medicaid, federal health policy, and systems addressing complex behavioral health needs in communities, then mhca may not be the best fit for your organization.
- Have an entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit as well as the autonomy to implement innovative practices within your organization.
- A strong commitment to regular CEO or senior executive level participation, as mhca programming and peer collaboration are designed for organizational leaders.
- Be endorsed by an existing mhca member, a trusted vendor, or a member of mhca staff.
* Special Considerations for Holding Companies and Subsidiaries:
Holding/Parent Companies
Holding/Parent Companies (that do not provide direct services) may be considered for membership if:
- The parent company and a majority of subsidiaries are non-profit.
- The majority of their subsidiaries provide direct behavioral health services.
- At least two-thirds (2/3) of the direct service providing subsidiaries (i.e CMHC, FQHC, CCBHC, etc.) join mhca as independent members.
- The holding company and all subsidiary members maintain good standing and alignment with mhca’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
Non-Direct Service Subsidiaries
Non-Direct Service Subsidiaries of current members may qualify if:
- The subsidiary is majority-owned by a direct service-providing mhca member.
- The parent organization maintains mhca membership in good standing.
